Polène is opening its first Dubai boutique at the iconic Mall of the Emirates: a 68-square-meter store showcasing its collections alongside the craftsmanship behind them.
Adapting the Maison’s artistry to an architectural scale, the design concept places leather at the heart of the space. It draws inspiration from cords, tautness, and weaving, evoking the techniques used to fold, shape, assemble, and sculpt this material into Polène’s designs.
Eye-catching leather cords frame the boutique’s façade and entrance. Extending throughout the interior, they reshape the space and envelop the walls like a sculptural second skin. Pulled taut, crisscrossed, and layered, the cords compose a structural pattern that transforms the material into an architectural language.
The composition revolves around two sets of contrasts: light and dark shades, and straight and curved lines. From pale beige to ochre, then brown, the cords unfurl in a subtle gradation of colors. The strong lines of the cords are offset by curved forms elsewhere. In the center, a long table reinterprets the curved line of the handle of the iconic Numéro Dix bag. Made of Corten steel, it appears to snake back and forth, while the structured design of the cords contrasts with the organic lines of the furniture, creating a sense of perpetual movement.
